The first years of a child’s life form a bedrock of experience and learning that shapes future health, happiness and capacity for success. Those years only happen once.
The early years are essential
From birth to age five, children’s brains are developing rapidly, forming over 1 million new neural connections every second, establishing the social, emotional, and academic foundation they will build upon over the course of their lives. All children should have access to positive early learning experiences that will set them up for long-term success and wellness. Equity is based on access, experiences, and outcomes for all.
Too many kids are missing out
Even before the pandemic, over 61% of Vermont’s youngest children didn’t have access to the child care they need—either because they can’t find it or they can’t afford it, or both. That means too many kids are missing out on a strong start in life.
WE ARE MAKING CHANGE
Our mission is to ensure equitable, affordable access to high-quality child care for all Vermont families by 2025. Since we’ve started, investments in early education have increased and more Vermont families have access to high-quality child care. But our job is not done.
WITH YOUR SUPPORT
We can create long-term change that will ensure that all of Vermont’s children have the opportunity to succeed individually so that we can thrive together.
