Stonewood School North

Stonewood School North is now hiring a one/two year old teaching assistant to work in our licensed center located between the towns of Shelburne and South Burlington. Our school currently holds a 4 Star rating, is a prequalified preschool program under Act 166, and is a specialized care provider. We will be working towards a 5 Star rating and NAEYC accreditation in 2019-2020!

Our center currently has seven classrooms, and over 60 children enrolled. This position is for a one/two year old teaching assistant in our Bear Cubs toddler classroom. Stonewood is a "looping" program meaning we believe children learn best in a consistent, predictable environment. We do not require children to move classrooms on their birthday but instead we keep groups of children together for up to 2.5 years in the same classroom. While the materials and classroom environment may change, the students and teachers remain consistent. We are seeking an early educator to join our current one/two year old group, and the ideal candidate would be available to remain with this group until they are about 2.5-3 years of age, or Fall 2020. This is a full time, year round, salaried position with lots of paid time off for vacation, sick/mental health days, training, professional development, and holidays. Our Bear Cub classroom is passionate about social-emotional development, and utilizes a curriculum that supports pro-social skills and self-regulation. The class currently has 8 children enrolled with a strong lead teacher. A substitute is working with the group in a teaching assistant capacity through mid-October until we secure the right candidate for the position.

At Stonewood School North, we strive to create an atmosphere of respect for all children and their families, and for our teaching teams. Please see our webpage at www.stonewoodschoolnorthvt.com for information about our philosophy, history, and classrooms.

Applicants must have at least one year of experience working with children, and at least 3 college credits in a related field (psychology, sociology, education, or social

work). Associate's degree in early education definitely a plus.

If applicants do not meet these requirements, we are willing to work with the right candidate if they are interested in taking college coursework or professional development training.

We offer gracious paid time off, flexible scheduling, and free childcare to our employees (space permitting).

We are an equal opportunity employer, and are passionate about the diversity of our center.

If you are interested in this position, please apply with a resume and cover letter, or call (802) 985-8118 for more information.
