The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VAEYC), Let’s Grow Kids, The Media Factory, and our statewide and regional partners hosted an early childhood panel for gubernatorial candidates on Friday, October 14. The panel was moderated by WCAX News Anchor Darren Perron. You can watch the full recorded event below.
The event will also replay on channel 15 on Comcast and Burlington Telecom. More details to come!
The panel was sponsored by more than a dozen statewide and regional organizations including the Vermont Business Roundtable, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, Vermont Early Childhood Alliance, the Vermont Childcare Providers Association, Building Bright Futures, Vermont Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies and Vermont Birth to Five.
Vermont's shortage of high-quality, affordable child care is an economic development issue which impacts Vermont’s economy now and in the future, as well as our families, communities and businesses. The shortage of high-quality, affordable child care means that too many of our children don't have access to the early care and learning opportunities they need for success in relationships, school and life. And children aren't the only ones who lose: a lack of child care also negatively impacts Vermont's families, employers and our economy.
